Therapy Dr Carolina Odman

She was at home while riding to a village in India on the back of a motorcycle holding the Earth ball for an astronomy workshop. She was at home dealing with the exigencies of carrying a telescope into Gaza to conduct a UNAWE program with Palestinian children. Carolina was unbelievably talented at everything she was interested in. And she was interested in almost everything.

Now that modern medicine is more aware the intimate relationship between the gastro-intestinal tract and our brains, I am convinced it was the beginning of the tumour that made me feel off, not anxiety brought on by external factors. There is no scientific way to make sure of that, especially after the fact, but I have grown to trust my instincts, as they have always pointed me in the right direction. The natural world, with its endless play of light and color, continues to reveal its wonders to those who take the time to look closely. The birth of a rainbow in the delicate web of a spider is just one of the many fascinating phenomena that nature has to offer. These observations of light refraction in everyday settings continue to intrigue me.

Tolerance ranges

In the evening, my 10 minute soak in cold water has epsom salt and antiseptic. I use Dr. Sole epsom salt foot soak which has menthol and a lovely cooling after effect. I put a layer of Treet It tea tree antiseptic cream on my toe nails and toes, and a thick layers of ISDIN Podos Gel Oil on the soles of my feet. Research literature shows that people with a better mental health have better outcomes (i.e. how long and well one lives after a cancer diagnosis). So I have been going to therapy, and generally it has helped me get rid of things I had carried for a long time, and not let them interfere with my wellbeing.

Carolina then, as she does, switched gears and spent about 5 years as Chief Scientist at a startup called thumbzup, where they discovered that they had hired someone with a mix of exceptional talents. As Stafford explained, while whiteboarding on an idea for a short video streaming service, Carolina came up with an architecture, which ‘is exactly what tik-tok looks like today’! During this time, she was in the Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans (2014), and Bilan Magazine 300 most influential people of Switzerland – category under 40s (2013). Some days, I go from one state to the other and back, the hands change from minute to minute. I often have to interrupt what I am doing to cool down my hands with an ice block, or cold water, and hydrate them a bit more. And I am sure the process will evolve as I learn Dr. Carolina Odman to manage my hand foot syndrome better but for now, this is the best I can offer.

She has always transcended simple boundaries, forged deep connections between different knowledges and people, and has brought sheer joy and happiness to all our lives. I paid, gave him a tip and thanked him for his concern, and drove off, touched by this man’s kindness. Some people are just really special like that, and the ordinary nature of interactions should not blind us to the fact that there is a human on the other side. Oh yes, I go for therapy, and it has been great. There is no denying that even with the best support network and loved ones around, being the one with the cancer in this turmoil can be quite lonely.

Early life and education

Light behaves differently based on its color, which is also why the sky is blue and sunsets are red. The atmosphere scatters blue light in all directions, while red light passes more directly, making it more prominent during sunrise and sunset. A rainbow is one of nature’s most beautiful phenomena, often symbolizing unity and diversity with its stunning range of colors. It has captivated human imagination for centuries, partly because its end remains unreachable. I recently witnessed the birth of a rainbow in a spider’s web spun across some succulents on the ground, and it left me in awe. What stays with us is her constant ability in finding beauty in things we have learnt to take for granted.

During the day, I sometimes put a couple of drops of Living Nature Manuka oil, which seems to help. After filling up the tank and washing the windows, I handed over my credit card to the attendant, and he saw the state of my hands. ” He asked, half out of shock, half out of concern. “No,” I explained, “it’s a side effect of chemotherapy, I have cancer.” Immediately, he turned into the most caring kind person. “Oh no, thats terrible, I hope you are OK. There was another man who came here a few days ago and he was also on his way home from chemo.” We had a little chat, one of those where a random someone’s empathy warms your heart and sets the mood for the day.
